to operate early in the job in the more
rugged outside conditions. It can then
be used in the cleaner inside conditions,
providing better utilisation and ROI for
our customers.
“When operating in full electric mode,
the Z-60/37 FE offers a full day of emission-
free performance on a single charge, and
in hybrid mode it runs for more than a
week on a single tank of diesel.
“This model is extremely cost efficient
and provides high rental returns for
general construction and industrial
applications, such as sports arenas,
shopping malls, and convention centres. It
is just the kind of machine to be the first
on the job site and the last off – exactly
what rental customers are looking for to
improve their profitability.”
Genie’s
SX-135XC
self-propelled
telescopic boom lift is designed with
exceptional outreach capability for
operational accessibility and is the first
model in the new Genie Xtra Capacity
(XC) family.
“With 3m (10 ft) more outreach and 32
percent more capacity than a typical self-
propelled boom of this size, the SX-135XC
is ideal for rental customers working on
challenging job site applications thanks to its
unique up-and-over style capability to navi-
gate obstacles at height,” Mr Lawrence said.
“Our engineers have developed a new
hydraulically
telescoping
jib-extend
design that is robust enough to handle all
of the up, over, out and below tasks rental
customers need to do.
“In addition, with transport in mind,
the SX-135XC features the new Genie
mini XChassis™ axle design, which
extends and retracts the axles to and
from the stowed position to provide a
more compact footprint.”
Mr Lawrence said that overall national
rental company utilisation is strong at
between 75-85 per cent, and that while
rental rates are still flat there are signs they
are heading in the right direction. However,
he believes that managing aging fleets will
be a challenge for many hire companies.
Uptime critical
Product Manager Australia & New
Zealand at JLG Industries, Arron
Cooper,
emphasises
the
critical
importance of uptime in the industry
and says the machines that deliver great
ROI can help rental companies better
manage their fleet utilisation and the
age of the fleet over time.
“Customers are looking for equipment
that provides excellent ROI over the life
of the machine, so to assist in this aim
we have developed an array of customer
focussed Ground Support solutions
that must inspire confidence in any JLG
equipment owner or operator,” he said.
“To start with, JLG has field service
coverage that meets repair, parts,
refurbishment and inspection needs from
capital cities to the most remote regional
work sites. Every service technician is
factory trained to deliver the right solution
– not only on JLG machines but also most
other major equipment brands.
“An increasing number of fully
fledged branches are helping to
maximise customer reach and JLG’s
service and parts capabilities, while
the number of technicians is constantly
increasing. Our technicians are also
well equipped in the field, travelling in
a growing fleet of specialised service
vehicles featuring advanced wireless in-
van technology, which gives them real-
time access to equipment records and
job status, parts ordering, and up-to-
date service histories that help optimise
service efficiencies.”
Mr Cooper points out that technology
has delivered significant benefits over
recent times, not only for the industry
as a whole, but what JLG can offer its
customers in products, services, safety
and overall experience.
“An example of this is the LCD
screen display in our 1500 and 1850
series ultra-booms. This screen shows
the operator where they are within
the working envelope, actually slows
movement as it reaches the extremities
of the work envelope, and even shows
the operator which functions can be
